"Where history meets hospitality" is more than the motto of this truly remarkable centrally located hotel, it is a statement of intent. The hotel stands on a site that has a heritage dating back to Roman Britain, and many unearthed artefacts are proudly displayed in the Museum of London. There are a multitude of attractions and experiences to be enjoyed nearby; take a trip back in time with a visit to Shakespeare's Globe or join the ultra hip with a visit to the Tate Modern art gallery. The Thames Path is near to the hotel and a relaxing walk along the River Thames is particularly recommended in the summer months, whilst a spin on the London Eye will provide spectacular views of a truly great city at any time of year. The hotel prides itself on high quality service and all rooms have private bathroom, satellite TV, radio, high speed internet access, mini-bar, hairdryer, trouser press, iron and board, safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
The rooms were great -- spacious for London standards -- and well-appointed. The staff was amazing, including recovering my wedding ring when it fell down the drain (I know you could argue that the drain should be better protected, but everyone could not have been more helpful). The location is great and will be even nicer once some construction is completed. We loved being near the Burrough Market, the Thames path (easy running/walking paths). This is the best hotel we've found in London and will return to it on every visit.

Best solution for London overnights!

This is the best hotel I found yet for doing an overnight. At least through Skoosh it is cheaper than the surcharge of taking the train to London. The staff were fantastic. it is old enough that the walls are thick. The breakfast was OK except I couldn't get tea quickly. The room furnishings were high quality, including the toilet / bath. The location is *fantastic*, very near Tower Bridge which is walking distance to quite a lot of London & provides good tube connections to the rest.
The one thing is that there was quite a loud fan running outside. The windows were fairly soundproof, but it would have been annoying over more than one or two nights, and would be *very* loud for people who have issues with sleeping with the window shut.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. Next time we are in London we will return because of the helpful staff, comfortable clean rooms and location.

good central hotel

I would recommend this hotel as it was pretty central and right next to London Bridge tube station which was a bonus!

Great location, but...

Pros: Great location (near Borough Market, southbank river walk, block away from tube station); great breakfast; great price for London; hospitable staff.
Cons: Beds are very soft--we found it difficult to sleep on (and we tried another room too); room fridges are computerized--you cannot store your own drinks or you will be charged.
Would I stay again? Probably not...the beds were too soft for my comfort. But for those who do not have a problem with that, it's a great place at a great price.
