Reviews Of Strand Palace, London,

Review by: Claire, Scarborough, United Kingdom

Stayed: Oct 2009

I stayed for 2 nights in a standard single. Of course it wasn't the biggest of rooms but I was on a budget and the location was fantastic.

Room service on the first night was excellent - they even sent me up an "off menu" dessert.

My only complaint was the temperature of the room. There were no glass screens over the bathroom windows so it became extremely cold and the draught came through to the room.

However, for what I paid and the amount of time I actually spent in the room, it wasn't worth complaining about.

I recommend this hotel to others with no doubt. Very well located, near the 'Covent Garden' underground and main attractions, it makes your stay very confortable !
Although its 787 rooms, you feel everything is well organized to make your stay wonderful.

The hotel was a perfect location for easy access to all attractions in London. At first when booked we thought it was a little expensive, however, once there our minds were changed it was good value. All expectations were met it was clean, tidy and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was very good and the service at breakfast was great. Would book this hotel again when staying in London

Nice hotel with modern spacious rooms. I was given a quiet room away from all the traffic noise on the Strand.

No. We booked a club room but we were actually given a standard room. The standard room was very tired and the double bed was right up against the wall, so I don't know how that would qualify as a double room. Once we complained we were moved to a club room.

The breakfast was awful - a really poor choice.

Yes, I would highly recommend the Strand Palace Hotel. The staff were very accommodating particularly in the restaurant and at reception when I checked in. I asked for a quiet room and was indeed given one where I could have my window open all night without being disturbed by traffic noise etc. Although I had booked a single room, it was more than adequate in size and very clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is also a big bonus in that it is very centrally located near to both Charing Cross and Convent Garden tube stations, which makes for ease of travel to the various London tourist atractions. It was within easy walking distance to the London Eye and also the Houses of Parliament, with Convent Garden just around the corner from the Hotel . I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to all my friends.

Great location. Single room was adequate in size. Good breakfast. However, room was noisy and could hear baby next door crying all the time as well as the 2 drunken British women on other side.

This is a perfectly fine hotel. It is centrally located and easy to get around. The rooms are small but clean and the bathroom is nice size and fairly new. They only major problem with this hotel was internet connection. It is incredibly expensive. If you need to use high speed internet, don't book this hotel. It was incredibly expensive. It seems odd that some hotels simply provide it for free and others like this one decide to charge a huge amount of money for what these days is a necessary thing if you are travelling and working. Otherwise, the hotel was fine--watch out for single in the UK--it means twin bed!!

I was slightly disappointed that the interior has retained none of the historic aspects. The outside of course looks classic, but the inside is very 1992, but not necessarily in a bad way. The service was good and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a nice, modern bathroom. We didn't get to try the food because we didn't get our wakeup call the next morning (the only major problem we had). The Mask Bar was nice enough with good bartenders. Of course the location is excellent and in easy walking distance of both the Charing Cross and Embankment stations. It's definitely a great value for your money, with great access to Theatreland, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden.

Just bring an alarm clock.
