Hivernage Hotel And Spa

Hivernage Hotel And Spa

Review by: Claire , Kent, United Kingdom

Stayed: Jan 2008

This was a good hotel and in an excellent location - just outside the Medina but within very easy walking distance. Also two excellent restaurants within easy reach (two minute walk) - Le Comptoir and Jad Mahal. Restaurant at hotel also good.

Did not use spa so cannot comment.

Pool area very nice but did not go in so not sure of temperature of pool.

Criticism - had booked a car via the hotel (by email) to pick us up from the airport and it didn't arrive - when complained to the hotel they claimed to have no record of it - I have a copy of the email!!

Would recommend the hotel but not at the rack rate - I paid £75 per night per room and this is a fair price any more than this and you will be paying over the top.

Las Palmeras Hotel

Las Palmeras Hotel
A real taste of Morocco

Review by: John , Leeds, United Kingdom

Stayed: Dec 2011

Yes, we would recommend Las Palmeras to others.
Most impressed by the decor and outside veranda overlooking a well maintained pool.
Very good value for money, though we did take an upgrade for 10 Euros per night for a room in the main complex which had airconditioning, a balconey, fridge, satellite TV and en-suite shower etc. The food of an evening was a bit pricey compared to local standards, but nevertheless tasty.
As this is an out of town location, away from the hubbub of Marrakech we were able to relax in style. However, a taxi or hire car is needed for any realistic movements as it's 12 kms from town.

El Andalous

El Andalous
Family friendly

Review by: Asma

Stayed: Dec 2011

I stayed with my husband and 2 girls for 7 days. we really enjoyed the stay, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel is fabulous and the rooms were very spacious, we had 2 double beds with plenty of room to move around and a balcony with a lovely view.
Breakfast was a little disappointing not much variety you would normally expect from a 4*
poolside was amazing, nice area to relax and have a swim. pool was a little cold but still ok to swim. staff were great with the kids giving them arm bands and swimming accessories they were always around to help.
Definitely value for money...would stay again!

Fantastic naoyra Barriere

Review by: Lisa , London, United Kingdom

Stayed: Oct 2011

Very obliging staff. Room very clean hotel and spacious. Location good too with 10minute walk of main square.
Hotel food delicious. Water and drinks on the expensive side though. Amazing Breakfast.
The wi-fi worked everywhere , signal pretty. Hotel has a good.fantastic pool, 27m long and heated in the winter we were told. Spa facilities were run well. The spa pool is free to use although we were not advised at check-in of that. Several water jets etc.
We would definitely return back.

Meriem Hotel

Meriem Hotel
Well equipped, helpful staff, well located.

Review by: Welsh Toubkal Summit , BRISTOL, United Kingdom

Stayed: Sep 2011

1 out of people found the following review helpful —

As with all North African hotels, the star rating is optimistic, i find removing 1 star is a more accurate grading. However, the Meriem has everything you need at decent value, is conveniently situated and staff are helpful.

I recommend requesting a room in the rear building behind the pool which are infinitely better than those at the front, which if facing the street, are horribly noisy.

I would also add that this hotel is well located for Ville Nouvelle and especially the train station, though the main square (Djemma el Fna) is a 25 min walk or 2 quid taxi.

Finally, since I was traveling around quite a bit, it was extremely useful to leave baggage there, which they did for me 3 times.

Hotel Oudaya

Hotel Oudaya
Oudaya is worth a stay

Review by: Jonathan , Hamilton, New Zealand

Stayed: Jul 2011

I would happily stay in the Oudaya again. I stayed there with a tour group and stayed an extra night. It is close to busses that run straight to the Medina and a double decker sightseeing bus that does a tour around The city. The rooms were comfortable and aircon worked well. The place is well maintained and has a great area for the swimming pool that is well looked after. The staff were helpful and polite and did things for us quickly. After touring around Morocco I found this quite a comfortable hotel in comparison. It is good value for money.

Riu Tikida Garden Hotel

Riu Tikida Garden Hotel

Review by: Bart Luyckx

Stayed: Nov 2007

Beautiful and good hotel, beautiful lobby. Clean rooms but the bathrooms are outdated. Big plus is without any doubt the beautiful maintaned green garden. The location of the hotel isn't really great. North of the medina in a poor neighbourhood ( we really felt uncomfortable when we walked through it the first day) the large, well maintaned swimmingpool was a bit cold ( not heated, but there's also an indoor-pool) it was also nice to have a fridge in the room. We thought the food and the furnishing of the restaurant were very good. Discrete lighting, candlelight and real flowers on the table. Small details that make a difference. Besides, the staff is very friendly. Then the choice of food: extensive and tasteful. One night we had carpaccio. serano-ham and shrimp for dinner! but they also have some Moroccan meals. Breakfast was also good. Definitely recommendable, despite its bad location.

Great value again

Review by: Excellent , blackburn, United Kingdom

Stayed: Mar 2011

This was the 3rd occasion I have stayed here and again it was perfect. If your looking for 4/5* then this not for you but if you looking for convenience, location & value for money this is the place for you.
The rooms are little dated but are clean and functional with plenty of hot water in the bathrooms.
Breakfast is plentiful & fresh and more than adequate.
The hotel is on top of the supermarket & 100 yards from a buses to most parts of the city. Very cheap to use, 25p anywhere along the route.

The hotel also has free wifi access in the main lounge area.
The staff very friendly and very helpful when advice was required.

A very nice and beautiful hotel with very friendly staff and a very good restaurant. We really enjoyed it, its a bit further from the medina but because of that also very calm.

Kenzi Farah

Review by: A.G.van Wijngaarden

Stayed: Nov 2007

Large touristhotel, close to the medina. Does have the Moroccan atmosphere, but misses the cosyness we found later on. Food was fine and the rooms were good after we closed the aspiration with a plastic bag ( was very loud) Staff was very friendly in the restaurant. A good start for our tour of the Atlas

Hotel Islane

Hotel Islane

Review by: Don , Cold Spring, United States

Stayed: Jan 2008

The Islane is clean and courteous of service. Its restaurant is excellent; its view great. The bed we slept in was okay.

The only substantial negative we have is that it could use some more and higher wattage light bulbs. We found it really difficult to read. The hotel is an older hotel, showing signs of former grandeur that it can no longer live up to, but this isn't truly a negative.

On balance, we would certainly recommend the Hotel Islane to other budget travelers.

Although the room was a little dated it was spotless, the staff were very friendly and a great help. The first few days all meals were served buffet style then it changed to waiter service and the food improved greatly and for only £16pppn half board it was great value too!

Review by: Samir , Baerums Verk, Norway

Stayed: Oct 2010

I have visited Marrakech lately and stayed for the Kenzi Semiramis for a 14 days.
The hotel is good and near all attraction. very quit at night.
The hotel staff er friendley and the food is good.
The hotel have a nice Swiiming pool where they serve nice drinks and snaks beside the pool.
There some down sides for the hotel as well.
They charge you for using the room safe wich i found a bit weird most hotels in the world have rooms safes fri of charge.
The hotel is old ..they need to do something about that.
All i all Good hptel but not a five star standard.

Amalay Hotel
OK place to stay

Review by: Stevie

Stayed: Apr 2009

1 out of people found the following review helpful —

This hotel was adequate for our needs but nothing special. Breakfast of a single croissant and half a stale baguette was disappointing, but the room was fine and had a lovely bathroom with bath and hot water. Location-wise, it's in a dull, traffic-heavy district a good 45 minute walk from the old medina, but there is a tourist bus which stops directly outside and you can buy a 24-hour hop-on hop-off ticket which takes you to the medina and main square and all the other major sights.

rather unfriendly but generic hotel. the spa facilitis need to be booked way in advance as they were completely booked p. it was full of french tourists.
It rather lacks character but it otherwise a perfectly acceptable place to stay. It is convenient for the airport and has parking.

Ryad Mogador Agdal Hotel

Ryad Mogador Agdal Hotel
A dry oasis

Review by: Hilary. , Fife, United Kingdom

Stayed: Dec 2009

1 out of people found the following review helpful —

This hotel is a very impressive building, clean. tidy and with polite staff. The area is still under construction and will remain so for some time. Can't believe nobody mentioned that all Mogador hotels are alcohol free. This hotel was without question good value for money but so would the one up the road have been and we would have got a glass of wine with our meal.
The showers have a habit of changing temperature to extremes. I wouldn't want to leave a child in them.
All in all a pleasant stay.

Ryad Mogador Opera

Ryad Mogador Opera
This hotel met our expectations

Review by: Carlos , Jamaica Plain, United States

Stayed: Dec 2008

The front desk staff was not as helpful as they could have been, and we were quite shocked that we were charged $1.7 to make a phone call. I would only recommend this hotel for a brief stay (we stayed for one night before leaving for the airport after driving in from out of town) and it was perfect for this. After staying in rural hotels, it was nice to have a steady source of hot water though!
