We chose this hotel for the location, midtown east, easy walking distance to Central Park, and because it's on a quieter street (it faces 48th Street rather than one of the avenues). The room was big for a NYC hotel, if a little bit rundown (cracks on the tile in the bathroom, worn carpet, etc.). But everything seemed quite clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was quiet (for NYC). Given that we were spending our time exploring the city and not staying in our room, it was exactly what we needed.

Acceptable value for the NYC market. Convenient and on bus and subway lines. Wife loved the towels. Friendly staff. Good breakfast but kept running out of fruit juice. Had some maintenance issues - some resolved, some not. Clean; however trash behind the dresser. Stayed in the Middletowne half dozen times before so we knew what to expect. Would stay again because of the price and convenience. Annual Christmas-time trip to THE CITY.

The hotel was clean but the room was quite drab. The T.V. reception was poor and channel selection was not good. The wireless connectivity was very poor.

Our accomodation at the Midtowne Helmsley was quiet, roomy, nicely decorated, relatively clean and very comfortable. There were a few spots on the carpet and it would have been nice to have had our own coffee maker, but overall it met all our needs. We feel we got a lot for the money considering what we could have paid at other hotels nearby. It is in a good central location, and we would recommend it to anyone.

Rooms need updating. Carpet and paint would add alot. The people working there were very nice and the bed was above average in comfort. It was okay and I would stay there again as a back up.

They need a fitness room badly. And also more ice machines would be nice.
