I would recommend this hotel to others. Just a half block off Times Square and not very expensive. Good value for the money.

I would recommend it after the renovations are completed. The staff was very helpful. The price was acceptable for the conditions the hotel is in at this time. I was a little surprised at the entrance condtions. I believe they should have renovated the lobby before anything else. If I went back to new York I would stay there again if the renovations are completed.

My boyfriend and I took his parents to NY for the week and we stayed at the Portland Square Hotel. For the price and location, we were highly satisfied; we were a block from Times Square, within walking distance from most attractions and there was always a mode of transportation nearby. The accommodations were standard and the rooms were small, but with the safe location that it has, it's well worth the stay.

When you are in walking distance of Times Square, there are things you need to overlook. There was one source of heat in the whole hotel. The room was cold, but the hotel did provide me with more blasnkets when I asked. There was no security at the hotel enterences. This was amazing to me. Several times the main doors were proped open. Any NYC hotel I ever stayed in had some kind of security to protect the people that were staying at the hotel. All the employees went above and beyond the call of duty with any requests ( blankets or towels)
I would stay there again , because of its location. I expressed my concerns above.
