The New Yorker Hotel is located in midtown, near Macy's, Madison Square Garden, and Hammerstein Ballroom. Times Square, Broadway shows and the Theater District are a few blocks up Broadway. NOTE, Effective June 18, 2008 the hotel will be a non-smoking property. Ideal location near Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, the Jacob Javits Convention Center, and Macy's, which is the largest department store in the world, great entertainment and dining. This is a traditional hotel. Hotel has a large lobby. The rooms are located above the 18th floor and vary in size, featuring free HBO, cable TV, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, desk and chair.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel very near to Penn Station. It was a short block away which was important to us since we were traveling with backpacks and were trying to minimize cab rides. The hotel is old but has great art deco elements and really good security. The room was spacious (we had a corner room with 2 double beds and 2 bathrooms!) and clean although it was a bit noisy. The gym in the basemant was well equipped. The bell man service cost 50 cents to store each bag upon dropping off and picking up, which was surprising, but when I left a good tip and asked for a cab they jumped right on it and even found someone to share the ride to the airport. For a quick over night stay, I would choose this hotel again.

New Yorker was perfectly acceptable

No real raves, no major complaints. Adjacent diner on one side and bar on the other were good and convenient. Rooms were small but just fine. Service at check-in was slow but that seems to be commonplace these days. Location is great especially if arriving at Penn Station. For the price, no complaints.

Small room!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — When we stayed here before, we had 2 double beds and the room was nice size. This time we had a king-size bed, and the room was very tiny! Asked for a few of the Hudson, but the view was disappointing.

The New Yorker served our purposes

I would recommend the New Yorker to others. The beds were quite comfortable and the room, even though renovated, still had a vintage feel to it (especially the bathroom). Nice view of the Hudson River. The most interesting thing -- we planned to return in a few weeks, and the hotel would not match the rate we received from Skoosh!
