I would not recommend this hotel. The rooms were misrepresented online. The first room was dirty with hair all over the shower and crumbling tile. The 2nd room had hair in drain with a dirty shower curtain. Also it took over an hour and a half dozen keys to get one that worked. We only spent one night because we didn't arrive until 5:30pm from Las Vegas and moved to the Sheraton Brooklyn the next morning.

Thoughts on the Nu Hotel

1. A sparse albeit Art Deco vibe. 2. Well maintained. The shower door leaked a tad at the bottom and this was mentioned to the staff. The repair lessened but did not eliminate the seepage so we just aimed the head a bit toward the wall. 3. Breakfast was light but sufficed. 4. Staff friendly and helpful. 5. Interesting location. Street fair held literally outside the door on September 26. 6. By Chicago standards expensive but research showed this was quite competitive in New York. 7. In short: served our needs and would stay there again.

We enjoyed the Nu Hotel. The reasonably large room was very clean and had tall windows the length of the long wall. The room and bedspread were in white and this, combined with the high ceilings gave the room a spacious feel. We wanted to be close to downtown Brooklyn and the location was perfect. It is also fairly close to the restaurants and shopping of Cobble Hill.

The question I received was, "How did you find the Nu Hotel?" so I have to say that the cab-driver couldn't find it, so he left me off somewhere on Smith St., and I walked the rest of the way (:-). The Nu Hotel is clean and modern, and I was quite pleased with my room, on the courtyard. It was quiet and pleasant. The staff at the desk were very pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfast was pretty much the usual. (I was hoping for waffles.) It was very nice to have free access to the computer in the lobby. I stayed because of business in Brooklyn. Getting to Manhattan by subway is OK, but I might prefer to stay in Manhattan if my business (or pleasure) was there. The Nu Hotel was good value for the money.

The Nu Hotel was WONDERFUL!! Great room at a fair price; it was larger than most other NY hotels that we have stayed in. Convenient to subway, shopping, and restaurants. We enjoyed wandering through area neighborhoods and found the area safe even at night. We had no trouble finding parking on the street; be sure to check signs, though, as rules for alternate side of the street parking are enforced. Hotel staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Although it was rather mediocre, a continental breakfast was included, even though our reservation said it wasn't. We would stay here again, and heartily recommend it.
