Excellent value for the money. The lobby was exquisite. The room was large but not impressive. But who spends time in the room in SFO. Excellent staff. |

Great location in a very pleasant and quiet part of San Francisco. The hotel is charming and old-fashioned, with very helpful and attentive staff. Our room was quiet and immaculate. |

When we checked in, the room was freezing. There is no thermostat, the only control is on a unit next to the floor. We turned it all the way up, and then the room was hot. We never did get it right. The breakfast buffet ran out of items half way through and I never saw anyone come out and replenish it. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are too many good hotels in SF. |

I like this hotel with its breakfast in the morning and sherry in the evening. I travel alone to visit my daughter who lives in Pacific Heights neighborhood. The hotel reminds me of places I've stayed in England and France. It is old and full of antiques. I have never needed any extra services while there, but find the staff to be friendly and polite. They always arrange for my van trip to the airport upon my request. I have spent a few hours walking in this neighborhood and browsing through Japantown which is only a few blocks away. It is a comfortable, quiet, and safe place to stay. Each room is different, naturally, with antique beds and comfortable mattresses. Someone who likes big bathrooms and new furniture wouldn't be suited for this hotel. I grew up with antiques and now live in a modern home, but love this place! |
